AWS Class ECuNi coated electrodes are copper-nickel alloy electrodes used in welding processes involving corrosion resistance and strength. Their constituents are copper (base), nickel (30%), iron (1% maximum), manganese (1-2%), and minor proportions of other elements to ensure weldability. They have good tensile strength, high ductility, and good impact toughness. Physically, they have a density of around 8.9 g/cm³, a melting range of 1100-1200°C, and high thermal and electrical conductivity. They are extensively employed in marine, shipbuilding, desalination plants, and offshore industries for welding Cu-Ni alloys.
