Invar 36 sheets and plates consist of Nickel (35-37%), Iron (balance), Carbon (≤0.05%), Manganese (≤0.6%), Silicon (≤0.5%), Phosphorus (≤0.025%), and Sulfur (≤0.025%), having superior low thermal expansion characteristics. These plates and sheets have very good mechanical properties such as a tensile strength of 485 MPa (70 ksi), a yield strength of 240 MPa (35 ksi), and an elongation of 30%. Having a density of 8.1 g/cm³ a melting point of 1430-1450°C and a low coefficient of thermal expansion, Invar 36 provides excellent dimensional stability to temperature-sensitive applications.
