Invar Bar is basically made of 36% nickel and 64% iron and provides great thermal expansion resistance. Its composition, which is unique in nature, has a very low coefficient of thermal expansion. Due to this property, Invar Bar can be used where high precision is required. Mechanical properties include a tensile strength of approximately 70,000 psi and satisfactory fatigue and impact resistance. Physically, Invar Bar possesses a melting point of up to about 1,450°C and also maintains its dimension and shape irrespective of severe change in temperature. It is applied in various cases where high dimensional stability is essential, for instance, in the aerospace, electronic, and cryogenic sectors.
