Invar 36 Bar is an iron-nickel alloy (Fe-36% Ni) with a very low thermal expansion. Its tensile strength is approximately 485 MPa, yield strength is 240 MPa and elongation is 30%. The hardness is generally in the range of 135-160 HB. Its density is 8.11 g/cm³, with a melting point of 1430°C. Invar 36 has high toughness, good corrosion resistance and maintains dimensional stability over temperature changes. It is commonly employed in precision equipment, aircraft and cryogenic applications because it has very little thermal expansion and high strength.
