Nitinol Shape Memory Tubes consist mainly of nickel (55-57%) and titanium (43-45%), with small quantities of iron, oxygen, and other elements. Mechanical properties have a tensile strength of 70-90 ksi, yield strength of 50-70 ksi, and elongation of 10-20%. Physical properties have a density of 6.45 g/cm³, with a transformation temperature range of 20°C to 100°C, such that the alloy returns to its original shape upon heating. Nitinol possesses high fatigue strength, excellent corrosion resistance, and outstanding flexibility, and hence is suited for use in medical devices and actuators.
