Haynes 188 is a cobalt superalloy that possesses superior high-temperature strength, oxidation resistance, and thermal stability. It contains cobalt (base), chromium (22%), nickel (22%), tungsten (14%), iron (3%), and trace amounts of lanthanum for added oxidation resistance. The alloy shows mechanical properties up to 2000°F (1093°C) with tensile strength of approximately 140 ksi (965 MPa) and satisfactory ductility. It displays excellent creep strength, fatigue resistance, and formability, rendering it suitable for aerospace, gas turbines, and heat exchangers. Provided in sheets and plates, it provides reliability under harsh conditions.
